DESCRIPTION:Linda Buckmaster’s Traveling Literary Banners\, “Of Cod and Communities\,” will be at the Mulholland Gallery in Lubec June 10 to 30. The Reception is Saturday June 13 at 5 p.m. The exhibit consists of eight 3′ x 5′ soft fabric banners adapted from Linda’s book\, “Elemental: A Miscellany of Salt Cod and Islands\,” which reflects fishing communities and landscapes on both sides of the North Atlantic. The banners show over 30 images from Maine\, Newfoundland\, Scotland\, Iceland and the Caribbean and come with informational sidebars.

DESCRIPTION:We’re harvesting seaweed during low\, low tides in 2026! Join us for seaweed\, clams\, and all the rest: \nJoin Smithereen Farm and other curious people for a week of learning\, harvesting\, processing\, and eating together. We will cover the ecology and biology of the seaweed ecosystem\, hand-harvest techniques\, regulations\, drying\, processing and culmination of the wild algae species that abound in our area. \nHarvesting\, drying\, recipes\, ecology\, and natural history are all part of the Low Low Tides adventure. Downeast Maine is famous for our 22-foot tides\, and the cold Labrador current creates extraordinary algal abundance. \nTuesday\, June 16 7:30 – 9:30am:\nMegan McOsker leads a walk & talk on the topic of inter-tidal ecology with an emphasis on evolutionary history. Learners\, harvesters\, and members of the public are welcome to attend!
