SUMMARY:A Continuation of “Color” by Susan Finsen
DESCRIPTION:Susan Finsen’s colorful pottery will continue to be on display for the month of October in the Blue Hill Public Library’s Howard Room Glass Cases. Composed of unique vases\, platters\, and “Leggy Whatnots\,” Susan’s exhibit pushes viewers to consider how deeply color influences what we see\, remember\, and enjoy. Susan says that\, for the last few years\, clay hand-building (not using a pottery wheel) has been her medium of choice\, providing unlimited opportunities for play and spontaneity and producing unexpected organic forms and surfaces. \nThe show will be available for viewing through October 30\, subject to the Howard Room meeting schedule. For more information\, contact the library at 374-5515.

SUMMARY:The Met: Live in HD – Così fan tutte
DESCRIPTION:The Met: Live in HD season kicks off with Mozart’s satirical comedy of fickle young love\, one of the composer’s most sublime creations. Phelim McDermott’s “colorful\, inventive” (The New York Times) staging\, inspired by Coney Island in the 1950s\, sets the uproarious story at a boardwalk amusement park\, where the two pairs of lovers at the heart of the tale find themselves on one emotional—and literal—thrill ride after another. Soprano Federica Lombardi and mezzo-soprano Samantha Hankey sing Fiordiligi and Dorabella\, opposite tenor Duke Kim and baritone Andrey Zhilikhovsky as Ferrando and Guglielmo. Bass-baritone Gerald Finley reprises his portrayal of the cynical Don Alfonso\, with soprano Ana María Martínez as the witty maid Despina. \nAdult $28 | Senior $23 | Student $13 | All fees included

SUMMARY:Food from the Sea Talks with Brooklin Food Corps
DESCRIPTION:How does the seafood we enjoy get to our table? Most of us don’t know much\, if anything\, about how it moves from our local waters and shores to the grocery stores’ and fish purveyors’ refrigerated cases. This series of talks will unpack the process of harvesting food from the sea. Our three speakers are local residents whose work has attracted national attention: David Tarr\, scalloper\, lobsterman\, and policy advisor\, October 3rd; Abby Barrows (Deer Isle Oyster Co.)\, oyster farmer and marine scientist\, October 10th; and Micah Woodcock (Atlantic Holdfast Seaweed Co.)\, seaweed harvester and policy advisor\, October 17th. Each will share their unique perspective: What are the fishing and harvesting seasons? How do weather\, environmental concerns\, and other considerations affect the ability to catch or harvest? What are the distribution channels? What makes our area unique? How will this work change in the future? Come and connect with those doing the work and learn about how they do it\, the challenges\, the rewards\, and the ways this hyper-local work links to broader issues. Free and open to all (1 Reach Road\, Brooklin).

Advanced ticket purchases are encouraged\, and while there is no food inside the concert hall\, you may reserve a table inside restaurant beforehand\, which boasts an Italian-influenced menu highlighting local ingredients alongside a curated beverage program.
