DESCRIPTION:Paint in one of the most beautiful seaside spots on Mount Desert Island with artist Erika Elizabeth at Seal Cove picnic area. Students will learn how to paint water\, rocks\, and trees to create their own watercolor landscape\, surrounded by mountains\, a working harbor\, and the sea. Erika has a unique style of teaching that encourages watercolor students to play and experiment with their art. It’s an easy walk\, with options for painting down on the rocks or near a flat picnic area. Bring your supplies and a chair/towel for sitting on\, plus a easel. DESCRIPTION:Join award-winning master carver Josh Brewer for this 5-day workshop. Josh will lead students through hand-carving a preening duck (no feet showing) from a cedar blank; then finishing it with sanding and paint. All tools\, materials and the blank are supplied as part of the class fee\, but students are welcome to bring their own carving tools. The class will happen three consecutive days the first week (September 17\, 18 & 19)\, then finish the following week on two consecutive days (September 25 & 26). All class days start at 9am and go to roughly 3pm). DESCRIPTION:Adults ages 18 and older are invited to Camp Beech Cliff’s Adult Outdoor Skills Day on Sunday\, September 20. Presented by Camp Beech Cliff in partnership with the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife’s Maine Outdoor Programs\, this daylong event offers participants the opportunity to build confidence and learn new outdoor skills in a welcoming\, inclusive environment. \nParticipants will choose one three-hour morning workshop and one three-hour afternoon workshop. Options include reading the forested landscape\, lake ecology\, adventure cycling\, archery and bowhunting\, hunting\, and rod-and-reel fishing. \nCheck-in begins at 8:30 a.m. The cost is $75 and includes both workshops. Participants should bring lunch and snacks and dress for outdoor activities and changing fall conditions. Limited scholarships are available. On-site tent camping is available Saturday night for an additional $25. DESCRIPTION:This full-day workshop takes place on Saturday\, Oct. 3\, and runs from approximately 5:30am to 6:30pm. It is led by local professional photographer\, J.K. Putnam\, and is designed to maximize learning opportunities and provide guidance on creating the kind of images you want to create. From sunrise to sunset\, you will alternate between traveling around Acadia taking photos\, and classroom time where we discuss a range of topics that lead to successful\, self-expressive image-making. There will also be individual instruction based on your goals and your questions. \nIt is all about making meaningful images. In the field\, we’ll learn how to pivot and adapt our photographic approach. In the classroom\, we’ll dive into what it takes to express ourselves through our photos\, going beyond technique to find personal connection and creative intention.
