Join us on Wednesday\, September 16\, 2026\, 6:00pm\, at Camden Hills Regional High School’s Strom Auditorium for a screening of Carl Sagan: We Are Made of Star Stuff with filmmaker Nanette Burstein in attendance. \nAn intimate portrait of visionary astronomer\, author and television star Carl Sagan\, whose groundbreaking ideas transformed our understanding of the cosmos and human existence. \nThe evening will feature a Q&A with special guests\, and a chance to gather with friends and neighbors before CIFF officially begins. \nThis event is free and open to the public\, and we welcome teenagers and adults alike. Register today to save a spot for you\, your friends\, and family! Doors open at 5:30PM. \nCarl Sagan: We Are Made of Star Stuff is presented as part of Points North’s ongoing effort to build community through the power of nonfiction storytelling — not just within the international film world\, but here at home in the Midcoast. \nThis free Community Screening is presented by Cold Mountain Builders. DESCRIPTION:The 22nd Annual Camden International Film Festival (CIFF) is almost here! September 17—20\, 2026 at venues in Camden and Rockland\, Maine. \nThe festival spans four full days (Thurs–Sun) and kicks off with a free community screening of Nanette Burstein’s film Carl Sagan: We Are Made of Star Stuff on Wednesday\, September 16\, 2026. \nThis year’s edition includes 28 features and 35 short films from 24 countries. Half of the features in the program are either U.S.\, North American\, or World Premieres\, including several new works coming straight to Maine following recent premieres at Venice\, Locarno\, and Toronto\, along with award-winners and standout films from Sundance\, Berlinale\, Visions du Réel\, Cannes and others. For the fourth year\, CIFF’s two major juried competitions — the Harrell Award and Cinematic Vision competitions — are comprised entirely of films making their World\, U.S. or North American premieres at the festival. \nOpening Night will feature two films: Boatbuilders from Luke Lorentzen and The Illusion of Everlasting Summer from Alessandra Sanguinetti. \nLearn more and get your pass at camdenfilmfest.org.
