SUMMARY:Points North’s 22nd Annual Camden International Film Festival
DESCRIPTION:The 22nd Annual Camden International Film Festival (CIFF) is almost here! September 17—20\, 2026 at venues in Camden and Rockland\, Maine. \nThe festival spans four full days (Thurs–Sun) and kicks off with a free community screening of Nanette Burstein’s film Carl Sagan: We Are Made of Star Stuff on Wednesday\, September 16\, 2026. \nThis year’s edition includes 28 features and 35 short films from 24 countries. Half of the features in the program are either U.S.\, North American\, or World Premieres\, including several new works coming straight to Maine following recent premieres at Venice\, Locarno\, and Toronto\, along with award-winners and standout films from Sundance\, Berlinale\, Visions du Réel\, Cannes and others. For the fourth year\, CIFF’s two major juried competitions — the Harrell Award and Cinematic Vision competitions — are comprised entirely of films making their World\, U.S. or North American premieres at the festival. \nOpening Night will feature two films: Boatbuilders from Luke Lorentzen and The Illusion of Everlasting Summer from Alessandra Sanguinetti. \nLearn more and get your pass at camdenfilmfest.org.

SUMMARY:Secret Mall Apartment (Documentary Screening)
DESCRIPTION:In 2003\, eight young Rhode Island artists created a secret apartment in a hidden space inside the Providence Place Mall and lived in it for four years\, filming everything along the way. Far more than just a wild prank\, the secret apartment became a deeply meaningful place for all its inhabitants – a personal expression of defiance against local gentrification and a boundary-pushing work of public/private art. Featuring never-before-seen footage of the space and revealing the identities of all the participants for the first time. (Run Time: 1 hr 32 min / Not Rated) \nAnd on Wednesday\, September 30th\, join us for all-ages collaborative art workshop led by Leah Smith and Michael Townsend (featured in the documentary) where we’ll make large scale tape art murals all over the library walls!
