SUMMARY:The Outhouse Association at the Alna Meeting House
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the beautiful Alna Meeting House for an evening with the Outhouse Association — Ian Ludders on banjo and guitar and Tony Scott on guitar and mandolin. The two will display their signature wild-island sound as they share songs and stories of the working people of the sixteen counties of the Great State of Maine\, from the herring weirs of Penobscot Bay to the potato fields and icy log-truck roads of Aroostook. Between songs they’ll talk about folklore\, islands\, outhouses\, and Ian’s recent book\, The Log of the Herring-Pumper BERYL. The event is free\, and will be followed by a $50 “Dinner with the Artists” at the nearby Sheepscot Arts Preserve — visit galleryparaply.com for details.

SUMMARY:Dolly's Coffeehouse
DESCRIPTION:Singer song-write\, Geoff Warner will perform a mix of original songs and roots covers on guitar and a few fiddle tunes for good measure! Blues legends\, Reverend Garry Davis\, and Mississippi John Hurt and the 60s Rock and Roll he grew up with are influences in Geoff’s fingerpicking guitar style. \nNature\, love\, sailing\, dogs\, birds\, local and global problems and solutions\, and the island life of Deer Isle Maine\, where he lives\, have all ended up in Geoff’s songs in one way or another. “The best songs are like paintings\, you find the perspective\, capture the light\, and then know when to stop.” Often introducing or ending a song with a good story to add origin and dimension\, Geoff considers his performances to be a musical conversation with his audience\, that invites intimacy. \nThe first hour will be open mic\, where everyone is welcome to perform: music\, mime\, poetry\, dance\, etc. Performers are requested to arrive a few minutes early to sign up. There will be a brief intermission with refreshments\, followed by Geoff Warner. \nDonations benefit the Dolly Fisher Emergency Fund\, which provides emergency fuel\, food\, and utility help for households on the Blue Hill Peninsula and informing the public about other available resources. Held downstairs in Fellowship Hall\, come listen and join the fun. Admission is by free-will offering. FMI: contact 374-2891.
