SUMMARY:The Lion Sisters
DESCRIPTION:The Lion Sisters are a sibling duo from New Hampshire whose music is defined by the natural synchronicity that comes from growing up and creating together. With Josi on fiddle and vocals\, and Lily on guitar and vocals\, their tight harmonies and effortless onstage connection form the core of their sound and set them apart in the modern acoustic landscape. \nTheir music blends folk and bluegrass with Irish fiddle\, vintage country\, and subtle pop and rock influences\, creating a style that feels both rooted and refreshingly original. Rather than fitting into a single genre\, The Lion Sisters have shaped a musical identity that is distinctly their own—warm\, melodic\, and contemporary while honoring traditional acoustic foundations. Their debut EP\, released in January 2025\, consists of six original songs recorded by Nashville music producer Jim Prendergast.

SUMMARY:Toninho Horta
DESCRIPTION:Master composer\, guitarist and vocalist Toninho Horta is a legend of Brazilian music whose influence has also shaped contemporary jazz globally. An early break with Milton Nascimento led him to work with Antonio Carlos Jobim\, Ellis Regina\, Sergio Mendes\, and Chico Buarque\, among a host of Brazil’s greatest musical icons. He released his debut solo album Terras Dos Passaros in 1980 and has been recording steadily since\, winning a Grammy in 2020 with the album Belo Horizonte. Horta lived in the US in the 1990s and established close musical partnerships with a who’s who of American jazz musicians\, working with the likes of Wayne Shorter\, Pat Metheny and Herbie Hancock. Joining in his quartet will be two young giants\, 24 year old piano prodigy Tyler Henderson and the great journeyman bassist Alex Claffy. Rounding out the band will be Horta’s colleague for over 50 years\, master percussionist Duduka da Fonseca.

SUMMARY:Will Brown & Willy Clemetson @ Common House Concerts
DESCRIPTION:Common House Concerts at Belfast Cohousing & Ecovillage\, 25 Village Road\, Belfast\, will host Will Brown\, with special guest Willy Clemetson\, on Saturday\, December 12\, at 7:00 pm. \nWill Brown is a musician’s musician. \nThis distinguishes him from most “performers” in the sense that he is all about serving the muse. This fact has not been lost on the many well-respected Maine musicians he has accompanied over the past forty years — including Gordon Bok\, Cindy Kallet\, Grey Larsen\, Anne and David Dodson\, George Fowler\, and Sara Grey\, to name a few — who value his versatility\, his considerable chops\, and his knack for finding all the right notes.\nHe has been a guest performer and has led workshops for The Folklore Society of Greater Washington several times since 2012\, and his arrangement of Going Away (his favorite Utah Phillips song) was included in the 2009 Grammy-nominated compilation\, Singing Through The Hard Times. \nWill’s arrangements of songs and tunes from the folk\, Appalachian\, Maritime\, Celtic\, and transatlantic genres\, are like musical comfort food — artfully prepared\, tastefully served\, and perfect for warding off December’s chill. \nFor more information\, email commonhouseconcerts@gmail.com or visit commonhouseconcerts.org
