DESCRIPTION:The Blue Café series at Camden Opera House welcomes back talented jazz pianist\, composer\, and educator Myles Kelley on Wednesday\, September 23\, at 7:30 p.m. for an intimate acoustic performance in the Opera House’s third-floor listening room.\nA graduate of the University of Maine\, Kelley is deeply rooted in Maine’s midcoast music scene. He leads the Myles Kelley Trio and has performed at venues including the Farnsworth Art Museum and Bistro La Cave in Camden\, as well as several Jazz in June festivals at Camden Opera House. Kelley’s original instrumental music blends improvisation\, groove\, and passion\, creating performances that are both dynamic and engaging. In addition to performing\, Kelley shares his expertise as an instructor of piano\, jazz theory\, and music production at the Maine Academy of Modern Music.\nFor this special Blue Café performance\, Kelley will perform acoustically on Camden Opera House’s 1941 Baby Steinway M piano\, offering audiences an up-close opportunity to experience his musicianship in the intimate listening-room setting.\nBlue Café performances are free and open to the public\, with donations to the Community Arts Fund gratefully accepted. Seating is limited. Doors open at 7 p.m. at 29 Elm Street; take the elevator to the third floor.

Don’t let her infectious smile fool you\, beneath that radiant exterior lies the soul of a fierce and fiery slide guitar player. You might know her best from her work with Americana darlings Red Molly\, but Abbie Gardner centered her own gritty\, sweet tales of love and loss on her 2022 solo album DobroSinger. It reached #11 on the Billboard Blues chart. She’s a Kerrville New Folk Finalist (2025) and was nominated for Folk Alliance International’s Artist of the Year (2025). Her live show is truly unique – heartfelt vocals and warm stage presence\, backed up by top notch picking on an instrument that is more typically in the background. Come for the heartfelt\, intimate ballads and stay for the raw\, bluesy picking. DESCRIPTION:The Twelve Wild Geese is an ancient tale of a princess and her brothers\, told for centuries across cultures from Ireland to Denmark\, and published in an Irish folk tale collection by W. B. Yeats. The Twelve Wild Geese centers around the universal questions of loyalty and courage\, love and hope. It was published in a collection of Irish folk tales by W. Butler Yeats and has now been refashioned by David Novak and Ensemble Galilei. This marrying of music with storytelling\, the experience of watching art be created\, the joy in silliness\, all combine to create a beautiful and evocative landscape\, speaking to us all in a way that is profoundly meaningful. \nKnown for pushing the boundaries of multidisciplinary performance\, Ensemble Galilei has spent over two decades blending words\, music\, and visual art through collaborations with figures and institutions such as Neal Conan\, the Hubble Space Telescope Institute\, National Geographic\, the Metropolitan Museum of Art\, and NPR\, culminating in this deeply collaborative project with Novak. DESCRIPTION:Join Midcoast Music Academy for an evening of live music with The Speed of Sound and MKTrio! \nThe Speed of Sound is a Maine-based indie band that blends sharp musicianship\, melodic sensibilities\, and a love for timeless songwriting. Fronted by our good friend Spencer Albee on lead vocals\, vintage keyboards\, and rhythm guitar\, the group also features MCMA instructor Zachary Bence (lead guitar\, background vocals)\, Jake Greenlaw (drums\, background vocals)\, and Caleb Sweet (bass\, background vocals). The band has a hankering for Wonder\, Hendrix\, Little Feat\, McCartney\, The Meters\, Zeppelin\, Hancock\, Bowie\, Zevon\, and Detroit-era Motown. \nMKtrio is Myles Kelley (keys)\, August Duclos (bass)\, and Owen Markowitz (drums). MCMA alumni Myles and Owen grew up in Midcoast ME\, forever in debt to the angels at MCMA\, but August is from The Big Apple. They describe their music as loud\, quiet\, medium\, good\, bad\, ugly\, locally grown and unflinching. \nThis all-ages fundraiser features a cash bar and raffle\, with proceeds supporting Midcoast Music Academy’s founding principal to never turn a dedicated student away. \nTickets are $30 in advance ($15 for students) or $35 at the door and can be purchased at www.midcoastmusicacademy.com/mcma-concert .
