DESCRIPTION:Welcome to our “first ever” week-long Youth Theatre Camp. This camp is centered on Smithereen Farm and Greenhorns’ Reversing Hall Agrarian Library and led by a group of young and highly motivated theatre professionals from New York and California who share our ethos of bioregionalism\, self determination and youth empowerment. \nAt the heart of the camp is holistic\, uninhibited creativity. In the incredible marine and riverine habitats of our area\, children will find natural inspiration to create their own theatrical performance about the eco-system. Your child will learn creative skills by helping build an artistic community and immersing themselves in an environment of rivers and bays\, of seas and beaches\, barrens\, and bogs.\nGuided by instructors with backgrounds in theatre\, clowning\, and education\, your child will learn the basic elements of theatre through daily acting\, singing\, movement\, and improv classes. Each day will be filled with outdoor excursions in which your child will integrate their learning by singing to the trees and dancing with the water. The day camp will culminate in a final showcase for friends and family — a student-driven show that utilizes an incredible handpainted underwater backdrop created by the Artists’ Rapid Response Team during the www.ForAlltheFish.org campaign earlier this spring.\nAll are welcome to join us for the performance at the end: a youth-led tale of the marine heritage\, comedy/tragedy\, prospects and particularities of this place and moment in time. DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday August 18 at 3pm\, a special summer music presentation at Searsmont Town Library – inside the library: Sophie Davis & Luke Fatora on violin and viola. \nSophie and Luke are Nidcoast-based violinists\, violists\, filmmakers\, and educators. As a duo\, their performances feature a wide variety of music including many of their own arrangements. Inspired by song and folk melodies from around the world\, their music is a joyful and creative blend of classical music and traditional tunes. In addition to performing throughout Maine\, Sophie and Luke are independent filmmakers\, co-Artistic Directors of Halcyon Music\, and serve on the faculty at the Bay Chamber Music School.

DESCRIPTION:Inspired by a selection of Grimms’ fairytales\, this original theatrical performance will travel with the audience through the historic nooks and crannies of the Chocolate Church Arts Center. It will be a fusion of theatre\, live music\, puppetry\, and spectacle.\nIt is a celebration of stories and storytelling\, life and death\, and the strangeness and delight of being alive. \nWhale Bones is an original piece\, directed by CCAC Co-Artistic Director Jeremy Eaton\, in collaboration with Executive & Co-Artistic Director Matthew Glassman\, and an ensemble of actors\, musicians and visual artists from around the U.S and locally.
