SUMMARY:Self Expression Through Nature Photography
DESCRIPTION:This full-day workshop takes place on Saturday\, Oct. 3\, and runs from approximately 5:30am to 6:30pm. It is led by local professional photographer\, J.K. Putnam\, and is designed to maximize learning opportunities and provide guidance on creating the kind of images you want to create. From sunrise to sunset\, you will alternate between traveling around Acadia taking photos\, and classroom time where we discuss a range of topics that lead to successful\, self-expressive image-making. There will also be individual instruction based on your goals and your questions. \nIt is all about making meaningful images. In the field\, we’ll learn how to pivot and adapt our photographic approach. In the classroom\, we’ll dive into what it takes to express ourselves through our photos\, going beyond technique to find personal connection and creative intention.

DESCRIPTION:This FREE public training is for anyone interested in learning more about restorative practices\, community building\, becoming trauma informed\, getting involved working in your community\, or becoming a trained circle keeper or facilitator. The full training is required to become a volunteer to facilitator in one of our community programs. \nThe first date is an introduction to Restorative & Transformative justice\, and some of the work we do in Hancock & Washington County. SUMMARY:Watershed Workshop: Finding Magic in an Acorn with Joan Sommers
DESCRIPTION:Join designer\, author\, and educator Joan Sommers for an introduction to the magical boxes of Joseph Cornell (1903-1972). Drawing inspiration from his habitat series of boxes\, participants will balance the natural and man-made\, focusing on symbolic\, metaphorical\, or emotional connections. They will create small assemblages using natural materials from the Langlais Art Preserve and objects provided from an overflowing attic. \nWatershed Workshops have a pay what you can ($10 suggested) registration fee\, to help offset materials costs.
