DESCRIPTION:In commemoration of our country’s 250th Anniversary\, The Penobscot Bay Singers will present a celebration of American and regional music for their 2026 Spring Concert\, “The Road Not Taken.” Especially featured on the program will be “Frostiana\,” a collection of poems by Robert Frost\, United States Poet Laureate of 1958\, set as a large-scale choral work composed by Randall Thompson. Pianist Ruth Gellsinger from Belfast will accompany the Singers for this set of pieces.\nThe concert will also include uplifting works by Rodgers and Hammerstein\, Irving Berlin\, Morten Lauridsen\, Leonard Bernstein\, and a sea shanty arranged by Maine’s own music educator and composer Gladys Pitcher. As has become the custom for Penobscot Bay Singers Spring Concerts\, there will be special solo performances as well\, including a work for cello performed by Kay Allen from Rockland.

DESCRIPTION:Music and Movement Storytime is back for the summer! Starting Monday\, June 15 at 10:30 a.m. preschool kids and their caregivers are invited to join Ms. Jen each week at the Blue Hill Public Library for Music and Movement Storytime. We will sing songs\, play instruments\, dance\, and read stories. The rhythms\, rhymes\, and patterns in music and the use of musical instruments provide fun ways to practice skills that have a direct connection with early literacy. You’ll get to choose how much soil you’ll carry – carrying as little as five pounds (about the size of a large freezer ziplock bag) is a huge help!
