Morning Maine Featured Artist of the Week: David Scott Norton


David Scott Norton is a singer of old-time, honky-tonk country music.  He performs around the United States singing songs from the likes of Hank Williams Sr., Johnny Cash, Johnny Horton, Marty Robbins, and more. He was born in Bangor, Maine, and learned to love old time country music from his father David Harold Norton of Ringgold, Georgia. 

David Scott started performing at shows with his dad and his brother, Lester, around the age of five. He performed each summer at campgrounds and outings. He studied music in his elementary school band and continued through high school playing the trumpet and baritone horn in the classical, jazz, and marching band.

In 1993 David started emceeing karaoke shows in Bangor, Maine before taking a break from performing for years. While living in Philadelphia in 2004 David restarted his interest by learning guitar and performing at jams and open mics and was performing shows in nightspots around Center City & South Street. 

David continued to perform and network with musicians wherever his travels took him. He has played in New York, New York; Orlando, Florida; Dayton, Ohio; Boston, Massachusetts; Nashville, Tennesse and more. 

In 2014 David recorded an EP in Los Angeles, California that includes performances by contributors to the scene he found in Hollywood. He has a fan base through with four thousand online subscribers to his social media and music websites.
