Always evolving, WERU has a couple exciting new programs and volunteers to report on. Phelan Gallagher has begun a music show called Wild Tracks Live (Tuesdays, 2-4 p.m.). The other, Change Agents (1st Thursday, 4-5 p.m.), is a local public affairs program hosted by Steve Wessler. Keep reading to learn more about these great additions to our schedule!
In Phelan’s own words, Wild Tracks Live is “inspired by a love of the raw and honest world of live music. Wild Tracks Live meanders through genres and ages transporting listeners on an authentic sonic journey to the festivals, clubs and living rooms where music comes alive! Marked by extended improvisations, lively audience feedback and historic commentary, these live performances connect listeners to the artists they love. On occasion, listeners will even be treated to on-air live performances and first listens to live recordings of local artists. Listen to the musical world live!”
And this from Steve: “Change Agents will feature interviews with people in Maine and occasionally outside of Maine who work to address human rights and social justice issues. Learn about people and their work: why is this work important, what is difficult about their work, what are the obstacles they face, what are some successes, and why were they led to do this work? Listeners can also call in to ask questions or comment on the topic at hand. My guests will reflect the diversity of Maine.”
