DESCRIPTION:The Blue Hill Public Library and Blue Hill Books will host an author event with Nancy Tandon\, geared toward kids in 3rd-6th grade\, on Wednesday\, July 8 at 2:00 p.m. This special creative writing workshop will begin with a short reading from Nancy’s newest novel\, The Haunting of Walker Pond\, before participants are led in a “Mad Libs”-style group haunted storytelling activity. Then\, kids are guided through the process of creating a scary story of their own and will get to create DIY ghost bookmarks. \nBlue Hill Books will be on site with copies of the book available for purchase. DESCRIPTION:Kneisel Hall Children’s Concerts are back at the Blue Hill Public Library this summer! Five weekly concerts will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday July 3\, 10\, 24\, 31\, and August 7 (there will be no concert on Friday\, July 17). Musicians from Kneisel Hall’s Young Artist program will be performing a variety of chamber music and will engage their young audience with information about the music and their instruments and answering questions. They will be playing combinations of violin\, viola\, and cello. The Young Artist program is a 7-week intensive session for 50 international pre-professional young artists. \nAll ages are welcome to attend these free concerts\, which are co-sponsored by the Blue Hill Library and Kneisel Hall. DESCRIPTION:Let’s get scientific this summer! Join Leah from Maine 4-H at the Blue Hill Public Library on Wednesday\, July 1\, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. for a fish stomach dissection simulation. Participants will learn what it’s like to prepare for a dissection and explore the contents of a fish stomach. Kids will have to identify which species of fish they may be investigating based on the foods they find in their search. Coastal Kids Science Series with 4-H is a monthly program where youth can dive deep into the natural wonder of water. DESCRIPTION:Everyone is invited to a free performance of “The Legend of the Banana Kid” by Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers on Saturday\, June 27 at 6:00 p.m. at the Blue Hill Public Library. “Little Chucky heads to the Wild West to outwit outlaws in this cowboy adventure! With a fistful of bananas\, Chucky rides into town on his trusty goat for a showdown with Big Bad Bart and his gang of bandits.” Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers is a small puppetry troupe based in Bar Harbor consisting of three siblings – Erik and Brian Torbeck and Robin Erlandsen. They write and create all the shows they perform and have received three Citations of Excellence from UNIMA-USA\, the highest national award in puppetry. Thanks to the generosity of the Friends of the Library\, admission for this puppet show is free. Reservations are not necessary.
