Mr. Sun Bluegrass-Fusion Supergroup to perform in Blue Hill, Unity
Acoustic music supergroup Mr. Sun, featuring renowned fiddler Darol Anger, guitarist Grant Gordy, Scottish bassist Aidan O’Donnell, and mandolinist Joe K. Walsh, will perform two shows presented by Bagaduce Music. The concerts are scheduled for Thursday, June 26 at 7:30 p.m. at The Clifford Arts and Student Center in Unity and Friday, June 27 at 7:30 p.m. at *Blue Hill First Congregational Church in Blue Hill (note this is a change from the original venue, but is quite nearby.)
Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a Bluegrass Jam and engage with the members of Mr. Sun, widely regarded as legends of the American roots scene. Darol Anger, an eminent fiddler and Professor Emeritus at Berklee College of Music, has released numerous solo albums and played alongside David Grisman and Mike Marshall. He is also the founder of the Turtle Island Quartet, Psychograss, and Republic of Strings. Mandolin virtuoso and vocalist Joe K. Walsh spent four years with the award-winning bluegrass act the Gibson Brothers before establishing himself as a solo artist and songwriter, in addition to serving as Strings Department Professor at Berklee. Grant Gordy, an all-around guitar master, previously performed with Dawg Music pioneer David Grisman’s band. Aidan O’Donnell, a phenomenal bassist from Scotland, has provided accompaniment for harpist Maeve Gilchrist and numerous modern jazz icons.
Mr. Sun has established a strong presence in the acoustic Americana music scene, performing at major festivals such as Wintergrass, Grey Fox, and Freshgrass, as well as at IBMA conventions over the past four years. Their upcoming shows in Unity and Blue Hill on June 26 and 27 will offer audiences a chance to experience their signature sound live, join your friends in a bluegrass jam and even have some tasty bites to eat!
