Beginning Birding Class with Craig Kesselheim
Have you wished you knew more about the birds you’re seeing? This course is designed as a welcoming on-ramp to bird observation. No experience needed.
Each of our four classes will include: a helpful identification segment (water birds, birds of prey, feeder birds, warblers, for example); a broader topic like migration, or how to find birds by season and habitat; and a user’s tip for eBird or Merlin — two free online tools that birders find invaluable. There will be time for questions, too. Sessions run about an hour and fifteen minutes.
Classes meet four Wednesdays starting November 4 (skipping Thanksgiving week) from 6:30–7:45 p.m. Eastern, via Zoom. One optional local field trip will also be offered – date and location TBD – for those who want to put their new skills to work outdoors. Binoculars are nice to have but not required.
About the instructor: Craig Kesselheim is a lifelong birder and longtime MDI resident who has taught Observing Birds for MDI Adult Education in previous years. A retired educator, Craig guides annually with the Acadia Birding Festival and loves sharing his passion for birds with anyone curious enough to look up … or sideways.
Participants are welcome from anywhere on the continent.
