Coastal Kids Science Series – Build a Filter Feeder

October 14 @ 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm
Free

Kids are invited to join Tess from the University of Maine 4-H at the Blue Hill Public Library on Wednesday, October 14 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. for a creative experiment that shows how bivalves keep our oceans healthy while trying to find a meal. Take on the role of a filter feeder—just like an oyster! Using common household objects, kids will test how well different gills can filter particles from water. Along the way, they’ll discover how filter feeders clean the ocean and deal with things they don’t want to eat.

UMaine Cooperative Extension is your doorway to University of Maine expertise. Coastal Kids Science Series with 4-H is a monthly program where youth can dive deep into the natural wonder of water. This program is free and cosponsored by the library and the UMaine Cooperative Extension. For more information, contact Pat at pat@bhpl.net or call 374-5515.
