Hops for Hope – 2 more weeks to help support research for rare diseases!
Horn Run Brewing of Eastport + Perry, ME , and Phoenix Fine Wines in Eastport will be running a signature beer special every Friday in October as part of Hops for Hope. 10% of those sales will support education, research, and family support for those suffering from terminal, rare, genetic diseases such as Tay Sachs, Sandhoff and GM1. While these are rare diseases, there are no cures yet, but you can help to raise a glass and build hope! There was no known cure for Tay Sachs and these other rare diseases. But there is research, treatments, and a whole network of family support. National Tay Sachs and Allied Disease Association is the comprehensive research, treatment and support organization for what are known as “Rare” diseases. These “orphan” diseases affect many infants, youth and even adults in some cases. While they are genetic diseases effecting missing enzymes in the system, rare cases are now found all over the world, even in our own backyard in Maine!
