All-Day Sunday Ballads, Blues & All That Jazz

Two renowned Boston musicians, Doug Rich and Willie Sordillo, playing a variety of styles with local maestros, will be raising the roof of Blue Hill’s Congregational Church on Sunday October 18th.
Bassist Doug Rich has played jazz, gospel, and R&B with many bands; for two decades he’s been with the band at the Myrtle Baptist Church in Newtown, MA, and also at the Old South Church in Boston. Willie Sordillo has performed and recorded as an alto saxophonist, guitarist, and vocalist, even opening shows for Pete Seeger, Ruben Blades, and Tito Puente. He’s the music director for jazz services at the Old South Church.
Rich and Sordillo will be playing with Sedgwick’s legendary jazz pianist Paul Sullivan during the church’s Sunday worship starting at 10 a.m.
At 2 p.m., Rich and Sordillo will perform with Blue Hill’s Clair Maxwell on piano. Pastor Lisa Durkee, herself a musician, will be the vocalist at both performances.
Admission is free, but donations are much needed to fund the Dolly Fisher Fund that provides emergency food and fuel assistance this winter! For more information, visit their Facebook page or website: bluehillcongregational.org
