Homeschool families are invited to the Penobscot Marine Museum for a hands-on educational visit designed for all ages. Participants can learn about Searsport sea captains and their families, enjoy crafts, and join a Set Sail demonstration. After the structured program ends at 3pm, families are welcome to explore independently. Registration required.
Sing along or listen as PMM staff and volunteers lead an afternoon of sea chanteys and sailors’ songs. If you have a chantey to share, you are welcome to lead one. There will also be information about how these songs were used as work songs. Attend once or come regularly. All ages are welcome, and no experience is needed.

True stories of adventure and heroism on the high seas come to life with costumed performers. The evening includes a special performance of the award-winning one act play, The Waterspout, by the Searsport District High School theater group. Bring your own seating and a picnic dinner.

Victorians loved decorating and crafting with nature and that includes using shells. This workshop will include a visit to the Penobscot Marine Museum’s Merithew House to get inspired by shell art pieces on exhibit. Then participants will create their own shell art. There will be a huge variety of shells, plus sand, seeds, and beads....
